Salted Caramel Sauce

A simple yet delicious 4 ingredient recipe that is sweet, salty and melt in your mouth buttery. An added bonus it is keto friendly, low carb and diabetic friendly!

  • 200 g Skinny Sweet
  • 85 g Unsalted Butter
  • 120 ml Heavy Cream
  • 1 tsp Salt

Instructions

  1. In a stainless steel pan/pot (do not use non-stick) on medium heat, add your 200g skinny sweet. Stir constantly using a heat resistant wooden spoon or silicone spatula.
  2. The sweetener will start to clump and then melt. Once the sweetener is melted, let it brown to an amber-colored mixture as you continue to stir. Be careful not to burn it!
  3. Once you have reached the desired amber-colored mixture, immediately stir in the butter until melted and combined. NB! The hot liquid will boil rapidly when adding in the cold butter. (If you are nervous for splatter, wear kitchen gloves).
  4. After the butter and liquid has combined well, SLOWLY add your 120ml cream. Continue to stir constantly. This may bubble rapidly as well. After you have stirred in all the cream, let the mixture sit for about 1 minute so softly boil.
  5. Add your salt, and stir it in well and remove from the heat. Let your caramel sit for a bit to cool down. While it is still liquid (it will thicken up considerably the longer it stands/cools) add it to a container of your choice.
  6. Enjoy in various ways, eat it from the spoon, add it to your yoghurt, make a caramel coffee creation, etc. The options are endless. Refrigerate once cooled. It should last about 2 weeks (if you can leave it that long!)Enjoy!
